Lenleys Corporate Day

Greenfields shooting ground at Sturry provided a fantastic venue for the day.  72 acres of woodland and challenging ground made a wonderful driving experience for both those taking part and our drivers.  The day was down to the great support from Rob, Vinnie, Dave, Maurice, Henry, Peter, Nessie, Mark, Ashley and Phil.

The club set up at about 11.00 and the first order of the day was to start making fun of my new gazebo.  It was decided by all present not to get it out of the bag???? The next order of the day was then to start on my Subaru and offer suggestions of where I should drive it, not surprisingly the offers were declined. Once this piss taking had subsided those with appropriate vehicles set off to explore.  Much revving of engines and an hour  lapse of time eventually led to a suitable course being set.

The first arrivals from the firm had amongst them some novice drivers who let us know they were not taking part as they didn’t have driving licences. The club members didn’t let that little issue stop them and in true CORE style said F… Off and get in the car you’re driving and they did and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Many more arrived of all ages and the response from all of them was one of very positive enjoyment.  The young lady Rob took round and round and round and round…..  even came back in the afternoon for more but Henry got in first and took her off to the woods.  The drivers were given a score out of ten and at the end of the day after a few flat tyres and hot clutches (that is mechanical not Rob in the woods with the young lady) there were two women with a top score of 10 and two men on 91/2.

A drive off based on who could balance a vehicle best on the seesaw decided the winners in each group and a bottle of ‘Bolly’ went to each winner.

The day ended with a meal in the club house where our members showed clearly not only could they drive better than the others but could eat more.  Vinnie showed his quiet shy restraint in getting to the food first and then seconds and then thirds with Peter in close company.

An excellent day was had by all taking part and we earned a sizeable cheque for the club funds.

My thanks again to all those who made the day such a great success.
